Follow the Dress Code

For our first steakhouse etiquette tip, let’s talk about what you need to wear. Like many fine dining steakhouses, the Dress Code at Ruth’s Chris suggests that patrons dress in business casual attire. So, what does that mean?

First off, please leave gym wear, swimsuits, crop tops, and exposed undergarments at home. We also thank you in advance for not wearing clothing with offensive graphics or language. In addition, kindly remove all hats when entering the restaurant. Guests who want to keep their ball caps, cowboy hats, fedoras or any other hat on will be asked to dine in the bar or lounge.

Tip on Order Steak in a Fine Dining Steakhouse

Did you know that we only serve the finest meat at Ruth’s Chris? When you order one of our USDA Prime steaks at Ruth’s Chris, your server will ask how you’d like it cooked. Your basic answer choices are: rare, medium, and well done. A rare steak is partially raw inside with a seared outer layer. On the other end of the spectrum, a well done steak is cooked all the way through with a charred crust.

As you can infer, medium is the happy middle between the two, boasting a warm pink center. If you’d like your steak cooked between two levels of doneness, you can order it medium rare or medium well.

We recommend ordering your steak medium rare for peak flavor and juiciness, but of course, we’ll gladly cook your steak however you prefer! We do encourage guests who have not tried our cuts or chops to consider giving a slightly less cooked steak than you’re used to a try. Additionally, our sizzling hot plates allow you to warm up individual pieces for the perfect bite every time.

Savor the Flavor of Your Steak

At Ruth’s Chris, we serve all our steaks seasoned to perfection, and sizzling in butter on 500° plates. If you haven’t tried our steaks without any additional sauces, we encourage you to do so. The premium marbling provides an extra level of flavor!

And if you want to jazz up your steak a little, check out our entrée complements. Adding béarnaise sauce, hollandaise sauce, or a blue cheese crust will transform your steak without overpowering the natural flavors of your steak choice.
