Ruth Fertel opened the first Ruth’s Chris Steak House over five decades ago in New Orleans, Louisiana. The bustling, 60-seat restaurant was the talk of the town for its charming atmosphere, fresh local seafood, and of course, signature sizzling steaks.
Today, there are over one hundred Ruth’s Chris Steak House restaurants across the United States. The Ruth’s Chris difference is the key to our success, and it all starts with the finest ingredients served with our signature sizzling style.
The Sizzling Steaks
Ruth’s Chris only uses the finest custom-aged, corn-fed Midwestern beef. Our signature chops are almost impossible to find in supermarkets because they are reserved exclusively for fine meat purveyors. We also feature USDA Prime, which represents the top 2-3% of cattle on the market.
We offer a number of classic steakhouse cuts like filets, ribeyes, New York strips, and t-bones, but we also have many specialty cuts. Our Porterhouse for Two features 40 ounces of prime beef featuring a combination of a strip and a filet separated by the bone. Bone-in cuts add extra flavor and marbling, so we also serve bone-in filets and strips. Our most extravagant steak is the Tomahawk Ribeye, a gorgeous cut of 40-ounces of USDA prime beef.
We broil our steaks at 1800 degrees Fahrenheit until they reach our guests’ desired temperature. We sparingly season our steaks with salt and pepper and finish them with a pat of fresh butter and a pinch of parsley. We simply and precisely prepare our rich cuts of beef, because the natural aging and preparation of the steak speaks for itself.

Coming from New Orleans, we know a thing or two about great seafood. We feature market fresh favorites like lobster, seared Ahi Tuna, Chilean sea bass, and our signature crab cakes on the menu. We pair our seafood dishes with fresh vegetable sides for a delicious healthy meal.
