About the Wagners: One of Wine’s Most Influential Families
The Wagner family released the first Caymus wine in 1972, but their Napa Valley roots extend far deeper. Descended from a long line of local farmers dating back to the 1850s, Charlie Wagner and his wife, Lorna, used their decades of experience working with the region’s soil to hone their winemaking skills.
Today, their son, Chuck, runs Caymus Vineyards with the help of his adult children, Charlie and Jenny. Their masterful production of Cabernet Sauvignon has especially earned the family acclaim in Napa and beyond.

Featured Wines on the Caymus Vineyards Dinner Menu
July’s TasteMaker dinner presents four Wagner Family wines served alongside five chef-inspired courses:
Amuse Bouche: Caymus Conundrum White
First, we begin with this bright and exotic white blend from the Wagner family’s Conundrum label. Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, and Viognier bring notes of citrus and stone fruits to the table. The latter makes this wine pair particularly well with our roulade of chilled spicy shrimp, apricot and mango chutney, and rosemary-infused honey.
First Course: Caymus Mer Soleil Chardonnay
Created by young Charlie, this creamy Chardonnay boasts bold flavors of lemon squares and baked croissants while maintaining a natural acidity. Alternate sips with bites of our croquettes filled with chicken, char-fired romaine hearts, and romaine oil.
Second Course: Caymus Vineyards California Cabernet
Up next, we introduce the Cabernet Sauvignon varietal, with the grapes sourced from some of the best vineyards throughout the state. This dark, rich selection wonderfully complements our cocoa-roasted lamb medallion in a red currant and blackberry demi glace over roasted fennel.
Main Course: Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon
Now, we take Cab Sav up a notch with the brand’s most renowned bottle. Ripe with tannins, the Caymus Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon is a perfect match for our Ruth’s Chris filet with a chimichurri butter crust. We round out the course with aged balsamic heirloom tomatoes and baby yellow potatoes in an avocado ranch sauce.
Dessert Course: Chocolate Cream Pie
No steakhouse meal would be complete without a decadent dessert! Our exclusive dinner ends on a sweet note thanks to a chocolate cream pie topped with espresso crémeux, vanilla bean crème anglaise, and a chocolate tuile garnish. A perfectly sweet finish to a night out.
